BREAKING INTO THE NEWSROOM!
We equip Ugandan journalists with the tools, networks, and confidence to report on human rights issues with accuracy, empathy, and safety. We empower both professional journalists and citizen reporters, including LGBTQ+ activists and youth-led platforms, to tell their own stories using ethical journalism and creative media.
The program delivers safety trainings, legal literacy, mentorship, and storytelling support. And aims to reshape public discourse by producing factual, inclusive reporting that fosters greater understanding, reduces stigma, and defends the right to speak without fear.
Strong, truthful storytelling builds a stronger nation. When people hear honest stories about real struggles and everyday wins they understand one another. Those understanding reduce stigma and strengthen community bonds. Well trained journalists shine a light on issues that truly matter injustice, exclusion, and inequality. We train media professionals, journalists, and civil society actors to report with accuracy and fairness, We focus on marginalized communities and youth, ensuring that the media not only tells the truth but also reflects the dreams and challenges of all Ugandans.
We combine training, mentorship, collaboration, and community engagement. We offer hands-on workshops to improve how journalists cover human rights, gender equality, and social justice issues.
Why Now
Laws are being weaponized to silence journalists and criminalize public discussion on gender, sexuality, and human rights. Biased reporting fuels stigma. Poorly framed headlines cost lives. But bold, inclusive journalism shifts public opinion, protect communities, and save the future.
