Arts for Justice

Arts for Justice

Human Rights Arts Festival:

The Human Rights Are Universal Festival is Uganda’s only annual public event dedicated to human rights, uniting activists and communities through music, film, poetry, hip-hop, discussions, and creative expression. It provides a platform where art and activism converge to spark dialogue, raise awareness, and inspire action. The festival empowers creatives to showcase their talents, challenge injustice, and promote accountability while addressing human rights issues and seeking solutions.

“Contributing to the growth of creatives, arts economy and taking human rights to people.”

A diverse panel of five people sits on stage at the Human Rights Are Universal Arts Festival.
Murals Jam:

Our stories strength communities, raise awareness and beautify our cities, they reflect the struggles and dreams of real people and real places. The daily commuter or a lawmaker passing by, Murals send clear and powerful message. They speak in ways that words alone cannot. Using bold unapologetic images and colors we raise awareness about human rights, civic education, climate change, and freedom of expression. At the same time, we celebrate our rich culture, diversity, and community pride. Art helps people understand their rights and spark important conversations across society.

“Our cities our voice, Justice for all”

At the mural jam, we voice our demands for justice on the walls.
Visual Arts & Media Documentation

Art and media are powerful tools to tell the truth, especially when others try to hide it. Using film we  document what is happening in our communities, stories of  pain, resilience and victory. We raise awearness and push for change. When people are arrested unfairly, when voices are silent, when communities are ignored,we documnet it, and amplify our voice. We respect   people’s stories, protects their safety, and brings attention to what really matters. Through dpcomentries  we help others see, feel, and act.
“Document our stories before they are distorted”

A close-up view of a video camera on a tripod recording an outdoor interview. The camera’s screen shows two people sitting across a small round table, one wearing a bright yellow dress and the other in dark clothing. The background is blurred, with lush green plants surrounding the scene.
